Research Center


​​AIL has its own research center which meets regularly and has research projects on all manner of topics to do with academic and social or civic matters and data gathering and analysis.

In October 2020, the team defended its Electronic Education Research Paper at a meeting of academics, government officials and others. This is the first research of its kind to be conducted in Afghanistan. The findings included that e- learning is not defined within the Afghan education system and despite claims to the contrary, there is a lack of capability to utilize e-learning.  Afghanistan is far from achieving universal quality education, and lags behind in the e learning sphere. The Covid-19 pandemic showed the utility and necessity of a robust e-learning education option. E-learning requires specific hardware and software infrastructure to operate and many communities and facilities lack these which hampers expanding the e-learning option. In addition, there was a lack of interest in professors and students in utilizing e-learning currently.

This research was groundbreaking and the Afghan Ministry of Higher Education has taken interest in its findings for its macro planning sessions.  University professors were interviewed and 350 university students participated in the research and questionnaires were distributed to five provinces.  The paper’s content will be distributed through the media and published in AIL’s own education magazine, Nida-e-Talim.
