Children's Day 2012

“ I really believe strongly that education is the key issue, that it will bring peace to Afghanistan. When people are ignorant, they are fighting, they want to really fight with weapons, and for 30 years we didn't accomplish anything and day-by-day violence is getting worse and worse.”

"I am transforming women. I am educating them. They are going to be leaders of tomorrow"
Dr. Yacoobi

"If a person is not educated then he is like the  blind who need a stick."

“ Through this process of educating young woman and young girls, I have seen many, many lives have been changed, their style of life change, they become very powerful. They become self-sufficient.”

Education Vision

The Afghan Institute of Learning’s Education Program is based on the view that an educated people are a vital foundation for a stable, productive and self supporting Afghanistan.  All aspects of the Afghan education system is in need of restructuring and expansion.  AIL has provided education from preschool level to university level and income generating skills classes.

Critical to this education cornerstone is educating women and girls so that they can contribute to both their family life and the prosperity of their communities. Educated women can advocate for their rights, contribute ideas and earn money and support themselves. Education about health is critical to ending the cycle of so many diseases and illnesses that debilitate families and society. Through education the women of Afghanistan can be awakened to their potential and go out and seek knowledge and develop the skills to look after themselves and their children.

The Afghan people are ready for more and AIL receives requests for more in depth education in the form of workshops and for subjects that go beyond the basics and into topics such as human rights, emerging leadership and peace building.

Afghanistan needs more high-quality, local civil society organizations to meet the health and education needs of Afghans now. There is a desperate need to build the capacity of Afghan civil society to ensure that the people will be able to meet their educational and health needs without foreign assistance in the future. AIL seeks to help local people set up centers of learning and to provide high quality teacher training and administrative skills so these centers thrive.
